Congratulations, Laura, Your Experience Matters
Congratulations to our Founder and Managing Partner, Laura Gross! This year, she celebrates 30 years of helping clients avoid and solve legal issues in the workplace.
Workplace law was a natural choice for Laura. From an early age, she understood the importance of work and self-sufficiency. Growing up, she worked many jobs including at a vegetable packing shed, a grocery store, the USS Yorktown—a federal aircraft carrier monument in Charleston, four restaurants, a retail clothing store, Six Gun Territory—a former Ocala theme park, the University of Florida and the Public Defender’s Office in Gainesville. At age 19, Laura began law school at the University of Florida College of Law where she worked as a student instructor. She also clerked for famed attorney Larry Turner.
In 1990, at age 22, she joined The Florida Bar. After a brief stint with the Public Defender’s Office in Jacksonville, she returned to Gainesville and with her partner-spouse, Paul Donnelly, opened Donnelly + Gross. In 2008, DG opened its second office in Fort Myers. The firm holds four Top Tier rankings for the Jacksonville metro area in “Best Law Firms” Survey by US News and Best Lawyers. Laura is also a Fellow in the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers – the highest distinction in her field.
Laura knows what it’s like to run a business. She knows what it’s like to be an employee. She knows the importance of hard work, self-sufficiency and thoughtful decision-making. Her knowledge, experience and service to her clients and the community have helped Donnelly + Gross earn its reputation as trusted workplace counsel statewide. Thank you for that, Laura.
Reflecting on her 30 years as an attorney, Laura explains: “I enjoy working. I always have. That’s a good thing as we spend much of our life at work. Gainful employment has a positive impact on our sense of self-worth and our relationships to others. That is true for me. I am always interested in talking with people about what they do or what they want to do, where they work or where they want to work, and how to avoid and solve workplace issues.”
